Overview

If you’re in Vancouver and craving an authentic taste of Filipino cuisine, Pampanga’s Cuisine Home of the Original Sisig is a culinary destination worth visiting. Situated at 5179 Joyce St, this restaurant brings the heart and soul of Pampanga’s rich food heritage right to the city’s vibrant dining scene. Known primarily as the home of the Original Sisig, Pampanga’s Cuisine doesn’t just stop there—it offers a wide selection of classic Filipino dishes that celebrate the balance of bold flavors and comforting, home-style cooking.

The standout feature, naturally, is their Sisig. Whether you opt for the traditional Pork Sisig or the tempted-for-more Crispy Sisig, the dish strikes the perfect balance of tangy, savory, and smoky flavors, with each bite delivering a satisfying crunch. Longtime customers praise the restaurant for capturing the nostalgic essence of family cooking, with some saying it's as close as you can get to a mom’s kitchen back in Dagupan and Pampanga.

Aside from sisig, the menu is a reflection of comfort food staples like Binagoongan, Tapsilog, and Chicken Adobo, alongside hearty options such as Kare Kare, Beefsteak, and Lechon Kawali. Each dish is carefully crafted to retain authenticity while appealing to a diverse palate, making it ideal for both Filipino food aficionados and newcomers alike. The Pancit Gisado is another highlight—thin rice and thick egg noodles sautéed with fresh veggies, pork, and shrimp, embodying a harmony of texture and taste that complements the richness of the main dishes.

The dining experience leans towards casual and cozy, with limited seating that tends to fill up quickly during peak hours. Word to the wise: plan your visit during off-peak times or take advantage of their reliable takeout service, which keeps dishes like the crispy sisig impressively crunchy on delivery. In warmer months, additional outdoor seating helps accommodate the steady stream of loyal patrons and curious newcomers alike.

The friendly and attentive staff enhance each visit, offering recommendations that have won over first-timers and regulars. Desserts like Caramel Flan and Turon provide a sweet finish, while refreshing treats such as Halo-Halo offer a cool contrast to the rich main courses. Whether you’re sharing a Combo Meal, which comes with complimentary rice and hot soup, or exploring the broader menu, Pampanga’s Cuisine delivers a genuine Filipino food experience rooted in tradition and communal enjoyment.

For those who long for robust flavors steeped in heritage or a first taste of Filipino comfort food, Pampanga’s Cuisine Home of the Original Sisig stands as a warm, flavorful gateway. It’s a place where every dish tells a story of culture, family, and passion for good food.

I have been coming to this location for almost a decade now. Probably longer, can’t remember anymore. lol. My family is from Dagupan, north of Pampanga and it’s the absolute closest to my mom’s and family’s cooking and we all know how good mom’s cooking is. Whenever I have the opportunity to come by for lunch or dinner, I make my way out here. Solo or bringing friends that want to try Filipino food, doesn’t matter; we come here. Their Sinigang is almost sour enough but I like it very sour. Kare Kare is full of meat and vegetables. Adobo is very tasty. I’m a fan of their Pancit Luglóg and Caldereta as well. The usual suspects. I don’t need to explain about the Sisig, it’s what they’re known for. I do wish that their Lumpia Gulay was more readily available though. The only thing I would consistently warn others about is that their seating is limited. During their lunch and dinner rushes, they have a large crowd coming and going so finding seating isn’t always possible. During the spring and summer they do add outdoor seating but that still quickly fills up. Just a warning again on that. I’ll usually come during non-peak hours if I can help it. They carry the usual selection of sweets, Turon is at the top of my list. Summer halo halo is a must.

Trying out Filipino food for the first time. Both sisig and kare kare were great! It’s a take out order but to my surprise that sisig was still crispy when it was delivered. Kare kare beef was flavourful. Sinigang soup’s sourness balanced out fattiness from both dishes.

I think this was my first time trying really authentic Filipino food and I really enjoyed it. The prices were higher than I expected given that everything is served cafeteria style (premade and scooped out from under the warmer), but the portions were honestly about twice as big as I was expecting, so it evened out to be a good value meal. I got the 2 item combo and a halo halo and couldn't quite finish either, so next time I would just get the 1 item combo and a smaller baked good for dessert. I got the laing and ginisang munggo in my combo. Both were very good and pleasantly different from anything I've tried before, but the laing was definitely my favourite. I loved the frag coconut milk with taro leaves. The laing was a tad on the oily side for me, but the ginisang munggo was fine on that front. These are considered "vegetable" dishes so the shrimp are more of an accent than the main feature, but they were cooked well and between the two dishes there was more than enough for me to feel like I got a fair serving of protein. Especially for "cafeteria" food, this was excellent. They have two types of halo halo but I can't remember what the one I got was called - it had mango ice cream, ube paste, flan, and jellies. I thought the shaved ice part of the halo halo was just a little coarse, but otherwise this was great. All the other individual components were delicious - the ice cream in particular had a nice bright flavour and the ube paste was strong. The staff were pretty nice. I took a table that a group before me had just left and someone came out and wiped it down for me even though it wasn’t visibly dirty. The place is pretty small, so not a lot of seating and the space is a little tight. Would be nice to see compostable plates because as is there’s a ton of plastic at play. Good place though; I take it as a good sign that there were a lot of Filipino customers

My husband and I would always come here to get our Pork Sisig fix, especially when we are craving for good Filipino dishes. Their buro is a must-try, too. My new favourite is their PC’s Special Halo-Halo. It has crunchy caramel bits, creamy ice cream and milk sauce, and all the halo mix included, which really works together.
